BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Feb. 10. The prospect of an Australian team at Wimbledon is at present being given prominence. Mr. Powell Biackmore, in the Evening Standard, states: “It would appear that no invitation has yet been extended to Australia, but 1 suggest that steps he immediately taken to bring Australians to Wimbledon in June/ Australia’s suggestion that a team be sent conditional on the English and French authorities assisting in the expense was submitted t-o M. Carnet, president of the French Federation, who forthwith stated : “We should certainly be willing to help Australia financially, but the council will first have to know the number and the names of the team.” It only remains for the English governing body to take- similar action to France’s. Australia’s suggestion is most reasonable, and their players’ presence at Wimbledon would necessarilv afford a great Empire reunion.
