BOWLING AND TENNIS FETE.

SATISFACTORY RESULTS. NET PROFITS OVER £IOO. At a well-attended meeting of members of committees responsible for running the big fete at the Park in aid of the Park Bowling and Tennis Clubs, Mr A. Grant presided, and Mr L. 0. Hooker (organiser) was present. A provisional statement of accounts in connection with the fete showed a r|et profit for the afternoon and evening of over £IOO. The chairman said that this must be considered satisfactory, and was a credit to the organiser and committees. Letters of thanks and appreciation were authorised to be sent to the Borough Council for use of the Park; to Mr Lay for assistance given; to the Hawera Municipal, School and Pipe Bands.; to Mr Metcalf, on behalf of the Frasei* Road Maori singers; to Mr Yearbury for his fine athletic display; to Messrs H. R.. Kemp, Newton King Ltd., R„ Mortlock and Co., W. O’Callaghan, and the Farmers’ Co-on. for help in the procession; to Mr Wollett for piano lent; and to the Egmont A. and P. Association for use of the copper.

A hearty vote of thanks and appreciation was passed with applause to Mr Hooker for all his time and work given for 'the cause. Mr A. Grant ('Bowling Club) and a member of the Park Tennis Club supported the motion, both .speakers agreeing that the 'dubs were'under a deep debt of gratitude t’o Mr Hooker for all he had done.

Acknowledging the compliment, Mr Hooker said it was sufficient to him to know the fete had been a success. He said the amount of work involved could be realised when it was known that 1200. letters had been sent from his office in connection with the work.

It was unanimously resolved that a ■present, of £1 Is be made to Miss M. Reid, for her work in receiving and ■ sending out correspondence dealing with the fete.

FTeart-v votes of thanks were accorded the ladies who lent''such valuable assistance and all others who holned to secure success. Frizes in competitions were won as below Silk nviamas, Mr D. Mr Bramwell: work of art, MV Frevne: stockings. S. Andersonsdb shirt. M. Quavle; nhotogranhs, Mr .T.. Linkhom ; silk socks, Mrs Burgess.
