MANAIA.

(From Oux Own Correspondent.) A. general meeting o-f the Waimate Horticultural Society was held last evening. There were present: Messrs T. A. Bridge (chairman), H. Mead, T. Dec, C. Jones, J. Campbell, H. Hughes, and 11. Hobday. The secretary reported having replies from different judges and stewards for the forthcoming show, each accepting their respective appointments, v Mr H. Chong’s tender was accepted for refreshment stall, etc. A working bee will be held to erect stall in show buildings on Friday afternoon. A meeting of ladies will also be held on Friday afternoon in the council chambers. This year’s show promises to eclipse all previous ones and record entries are expected. , The names of Misses B. and M. White were inadvertently omitted from the report of the Rev. A. C. Swainson’s farewell. The tables, were artistically decorated by them. Miss Emmy Doris presented Mrs Swains on with a beautiful , cruet on behalf of the Sunday school pupils. . Mrs T. Hair won the principle competition "at Mrs T. Oxley’s afternoon to Mrs Swainson, which she presented to the guest of the afternoon. PERSONAL. Miss Fisher, of South Australia, _ a relative of Mrs T. Sutherland, Manaia, celebrated her 300th birthday on Saturday last, February 5. She is a sister of the late C. B. Fisher, father of racing and late chairman of the Victorian Racing Club.
