REFORM OF LAW.
EMPLOYERS’ PROPOSALS. CURTAILING THEIR POWERS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Feb. 7. In view of the Baldwin Government’s piopsed reform of the trade union laws, the Engineering Employers’ National Federation proposes the following: (1) A trade union should be liable for damages in respect of tortious acts committed by them, or on their behalf; (’2) breaking of contracts of employment in furtherance of trade disputes should be actionable; (3) in connection with political levies, provision should be made for contracting in, instead of contracting out; (4) mass picketing and picketing of houses should be illegal. The federation adds that provident funds should not* be available to meet claims in respect to damages.
