SWIMMING CARNIVAL.
HAWERA CLUB'S FIXTURE
WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY
The recent ispell of Teal swimming weather had -added greatly to- the interest in the- -sport -generally throughout the district and keen competition is expected with entrants from all parts qf the province is expected at the carnival to be held in the Hawe-na baths on Wednesday an<l Thursday evenings, under the auspices of the Hawera Amateur Swimming Club. Commencing at eight o'clock each evening, the respective programmes will include the -best known, as well a-s certain novel features, of the popular sport land should sustain interest among competitors and '.spectators alike.. Entries, other than post events close with the secretary (Mr.. J. H. Davenport) at five o’clock this evening, and it is anticipated that the lists will be well filled. If favoured with fair weather conditions, the Albiofi Street resort should be the -scene- of large gatherings on both evenings. Officials have been appointed as follows : Referee. —Mr. J. D. McQuin. Judges.—Messrs W. A. Spragg and L. Marter, G. Villa,r-s (swimming) ; Mr. W. A. Spragg and Air. G. Viliam (diving). Starter.— Mr. P. Morrisey; check -starter.—Mr. F. Foden. Timekeepers.—H. A. Brunette, T. Lay, land G. W. Taylor. Handicapper.—Mr M. Brown. Call -stewards.—Mesdame-s E. Higgs and —. B'rant; Mes&r-s M. F. Jones, J. Dowdle, D. Burgess, and Seag-ar.
