A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
EGMONT COMMITTEE MEETING. PROGRESS OF ART UNION. An unusually short sitting of the Egmont A. and P. Association marked the monthly meeting of the general committee this afternoon,' when twelve minutes -sufficed to deal with the minutes of the previous meeting and to dispose of current business. There were present: Messrs S. C. Tonics (president), R. McCav, D. Crocker, J. S. T. Short, C. H. Washer, E. A. Washer, W. McL’Dowie, N. Crocker, J. D. Scott, J. Tverrisk, P. Bremer and F. Gillanders. An application for the use of the show grounds and a room under the grandstand on Sunday mornings by the Municipal Band was received from the secretary (Mr W. Hawkins). The necessary permission was granted. The president gave a reminder that the art union sales would close on Thursday'. He intimated that excellent reports had been received concerning the disposal of tickets outside the district, but he appealed for keener interest on the part of members locally'. Mr Tonics emphasised that the object of the art union was to assist the three, associations who had combined in its organisation, and that whatever returns were realised would indirectly benefit the whole district. This aspect was generally' appreciated and much public sympathy with the appeal had been shown, but it behoved all members to:assist in xn'omoting the ticket sales in, order that the best possible results! might be achieved.
