UNION DISPUTE

SEAMEN’S UNION. OFFICE OCCUPIED. TALK OF NEW ORGANISATION. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.' WELLINGTON, Jan. 26. It is reported that following a special meeting of the members of the Wellington Seamen’s Union yesterday morning, a number of seamen proceeded to the office of the union at mid-day and took charge of the office, ejecting the secretary and his assistants. It is understood that at yesterday’s meeting the seamen resolved that “a commission” be appointed to investigate tho business affairs of the union. The subsequent occupation of the office was merely .the sequel to that decision. For some time the union has been divided into two factions, and yesterday’s meeting gave ascendancy to one side. There was some talk later yesterday of forming a new union.
