From Paris to Niamey (Nigeriia) in eight days, was the .remarkable m otor - ing exploit of Lieut. Estrienne. Hitherto it has been supposed that special ears would be necessary to cross the Sahara. At first caterpillar wheels were tried, then a .six-wheeled car. Estrenne conquered the desert in a small ordinary six horsepower car. He left Paris on the afternoon of January 7, embarked for Oran on January o, reached Niamey on the morning or the loth, and handed the Governor a Paris paper only a week old. Normally the post takes six weeks to arrrjji'ent. Estrenne intends to proceed to Zin da. and Kanno.
