DEFENCE OF FRANCE EVACUATION OF RHINELAND OPPORTUNITY FOR BARGAINING. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION- COPYRIGHT Received 11.45 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Jan. 7. The Paris correspondent of the Times states that the Superior Council ox National Defence is preparing a scheme involving the permanent inspection of the Rhineland, which it will submit to Germany when the question of evacuation comes up. It is an open secret that French opinion has recently been stiffened regarding frontier security. It is pointed out that while the occupation lasts it has a definitely military value for France and it is therefore claimed that if its forces evacuate before the appointed time, this must be balanced by Germany conceding France additioned security. As Germany strongly desires evacuation, the French consider that _ they are in a good bargaining position. — Times.
