National attention continues to be focussed on the 3000 deaths .from Gov-ernment-poisoned denatured alcohol during the recent holiday season. Mr A. W. Mellon has urged the Government to use all possible speed to remove the poison ingredients from present supplies. The American Chemical Society has requested its 15,000 members for suggestions for a new non-poisonous denaturant. General Andrews, in charge of the 'prohibition enforcement unit, announced that it was safe to assume that- most of these holiday deaths were caused from officially poisoned denatured alcohol, from which bootleggers thought they had removed the poison but had failed. —Sydney -Sun Cable.
