— TARANAKI GENTHE. At a meeting of the Taranaki Centre of the New Zealand Amateur swimming Association, heid last evening ar New Plymouth, there were present: Mr W H. Moyes (chairman), Aliso Saxton,'Messrs Pope, F J. Eggleton, G. F. Bertrand, A # J. Blennerhassett, P J Plannagan, R. G. Howell, and L. Pi-ethey. A letter was received from the council of the New Zealand Association stating that with a view to assisting the work of the educational oilmens tne council had decided to invite expressions of opinion as to how monetaij o-rants for the use of educational oiticers could best be utilised, llie maxi mum amount available in the case oi each educational officer would be E-U. It was decided to divide the schools in Taranaki into four grades and to offer a trophy to the value ot Go lor the school in each grade which showed x the best results in the competitions for swimming certificates. A eirculai acquainting the schools of this will be sent out. . , , , ~ Notification was received that tnc annual conference would be field at Auckland on January 2d.—it was resolved to notify ail cluus reqxiesting them to send in names oi delegate, likely to attend, and to forward remits for submission to the conference. • It was decided to hold the P K> - vincial championships on January 8.
