COBHAM’S OIL SUPPLY.
COMPANIES’ ALLEGED BAN. THE AUSTRALIAN REFINERIES. 4t LONDON, Dec. 1. Jn the House of Commons to-day, Mr Hudson asked whether the Government was aware that Sir Alan Cobham had been prevented lvhile in Australia from using petrol from the Commonwealth refineries through the oil companies notifying that if he did they would refuse their supplies on his homeward journey, and also whether, in the interests of civil aviation, action was contemplated against these companies when future British contracts were being considered. The Air Minister. Sir Samuel Hoare, said he had no official information on the matter, and repudiated the suggestion that it was his duty to discover the extent to which the companies had interfered with Sir Alan Cohham’s great Imperial enterprise. Mr Tom Johnston (Labour): Aren’t von aware of Mr Bruce’s statement to his Parliament? Cannot you make inquiries so that the British people will know the names of these capitalist patriots who did this? Sir Samuel Hoare: There is nothing to add to my previous reply, hut I will consider the making of further inquiries.
