♦ (From Our Own Correspondent.) MEETING OF RETAILERS. A general meeting of all retail shop keepers was held oii Wednesday even- : »g. Air I. .T. Bridger, who was voted to the chair, moved that the business houses observe the following extra holidays during the year, viz., Monday, December 27, Monday, January 3, tlie annual school picnic, day, Easter Saturday and Labour. The above days are in addition to all the fixed statutarv holidays.' Air J. S. Morton seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. The following were elected to represent tlie shopkeepers on tlie Chamber of Commerce Council and to act generally for the retailers during tlie year: Messrs A. Beeslcy, Cr. W. Peebles, A. Jackson, W. Walsli, and A. Hutington. The meeting then resolved into committee to discuss several suggestions from the progress committee.
