ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE GEAND THEATBE TO-NIGHT. BIN-TIN-TIN AND ZANE GBEY. A double star attraction will be provided patrons of the pictures at the Grand Theatre to-night headed by Bin-Tin-Tin in “Below the Dine.” An added attraction will be Zane Grey’s “Fighting Fins,” the Bay of Islands picture described as a film record of what is probably the greatest deep-sea fishing episode of all time —2000 ft of continuous thrill with Zane Grey in the leading role. “Fighting Fins” is a Government Publicity Office production. “DOROTHY.” OPERA HOUSE, HAWERA. THURSDAY AND FRIDAY NEXT. Interest in the forthcoming production in Hawera of “Dorothy” by the Eltham Operatic Society' is gaining every day. “Dorothy” is ail essentially English play, the action of which takes place when powdered, wigs, knee breeches, snuff-boxes and jabots were the reigning fashion, and when courtesy and gallantry were much more prevalent than is" the case nowadays. The music alone will leave an impression not soon to be forgotten. The action takes place in Kent, the “Garden of Old England,” and the listener is transported to the 'hop gardens, where village lads and maidens enjoy to the full the customary revels indulged in at the cessation of the hop-picking period —the merry hopping time, “Where mugs and jugs are handed round And mirth and joyousness abound.” Then there is a peep into the home of one of the gentry. Here again joy is uppermost. “With stately measure they start to prance, Behold ye olden English dance.” Delightful voices, strong and sweet, gorgeous scenery, elaborate costumes, entraining music and sparkling comedy —these are some of the factors which contribute to the outstanding success of the production. The Hawera. season opens on Thursday next, and local threatregoers are assured of a pleasureable evening’s entertainment. The box plan is now open at the Opera. House Confectionery.
