ACROSS EGMONT

ELEVATED MOTOR ROAD. BOARD PARTY INSPECTION SURVEY TO BE REQUESTED., Local activities for the formation of a motor road connecting the Stratford House with Dawson Fails House were advanced a further stage yesterday, when a party of eight, including Messsr J. C. Robins (chairman of the East Committee of the Egmont Park Board), T. R. Anderson and P. Thomson (members of the board), were taken over the route proposed by Messrs G. D. Hunter and A. W. Burrell. The latter two had previously cut a preliminary survey track through the bush. It was demonstrated to the partv yesterday that the construction of the road would require comparatively little grading and only four bridges. The distance of the route is four and a quarter miles. From the Stratford House at a level of 3400 feet above the sea the route rises for about two milas to the plateau (3760 feet), thence descending to Dawson Falls House (3100 feet). The route affords magnificent panoramic views of the country and sea, both north and south. Application for an official survey is to be made, an offer to defray costs having been submitted by a ijerson who wishes to remain anonymous.
