RAILWAY SHUNTER DIES OF INJURIES. (BV TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION I DUNEDIN, Nov. 15. Thomas McAuliffe; aged 23, who received injuries to a leg on Friday while engaged in shunting operations at the railway goods yard, died in hospital last night. PECULIAR. COINCIDENCE. PAHIATUA, Nov. 15. Roy Wiblem, -also his younger brother, Alan, sons of W. AViblem, gas company manager .at Pahiatua, were injured at home on Saturday afternoon, within an hour. The former fell over a wire fence and broke his nose, while Alan fell from a clothes-line post, and fractured his left arm. FLOCK HOUSE TRAINEE KILLED. PAHIATUA, Nov. 15. Georg© A'intou, aged 15, died at the Pahiatua Hospital on Sunday morning as a result of severe injuries to the head and two fractures to the left leg, sustained when knocked down by a ear driven by John Drummond on the main Masterton road on Saturday afternoon when conveying a party of Dannevirke bowlers to Pahiatua. Vinton was a former Flock House trainee, employed by Richard Hadfield, a farmer near AVoodville. The victim was walking along the road eating an apple when the car approached. It is reported that deceased stepped out from behind the lorry, which was proceeding to AVoodville. A r inton came to the Dominion from London early in the vear. and for the past three months had been in Hadfield’s employ. The inquest was opened here this morning for the purpose of identification, and was then, adjourned, to he heard at Woodville later. SYDNEY MOTOR- SMASHES. It is not- expected that the three men injured in Die motor smash (reported on page ™ will recover, as all suffered fractured skulls. The motorcar was travelling at a fast pace near Westmend, when it veered to the side of the Toad, skidded in the thick dust, and overturned. The men were pinned beneath. One was dead when released.. The second died shortly after being | admitted to the hospital. Only one of the six occupants was practically unhurt.
NORTH AUCKLAND CASUALTIES. AVHANGAREI, Nov. 15. David Gardiner, aged five years, fell from a delivery van on Saturday and fractured the base of bis .skull. He is progressing favourably. Miriam Sword fell from a bicycle when pillion riding on Sunday. Her skirt caught in the spokes. ..The victim was- taken to the' hospital suffering from a fracture of the base of the skull. She is progressing favourably. AATlliam Regan, a motor cyclist, swerved to avoid a motor car near Waotira. and fell and broke a leg. He lay on the side of the road for two hours till picked up and taken to liospita 1 . The occupants of the car were not aware of the cyclist’s fall.
