PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr E. J. Riches, of Canterbury College, has been selected to fid the position recently advertised for a New Zealand representative on the Secretariat of the Internatinal Labour Office, in Geneva. Mr Riches, who is 21 years of age, was educated at the Geraldine District. High School, and, later, at Timaru Bivs’ High School. He nil] leave for Geneva early next year.
A pleasant little function took place at the Central Hotel on Saturday evening, when a few friends of Miss Mora Kirby met and tendered her a presentation at a complimentary dinner on the occasion of her birthday. In a few well-chosen remarks Mir. E. Fletcher, on behalf of the company, handed the guest of the evening a gold wristlet watch. Other speakers supported the chairman’s expression of good wishes for Miss Kirby’s future, and her health was duly toasted with musical honours.
