BROADCASTING IN BRITAIN.
NEW CORPORATION TAKES OVER WORK. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGUT LONDON, Nov. 11. A White Paper, explaining the transfer of the British Broadcasting Company’s affairs to the new corporation, announces that the company will be bought for £620,000. The new governors and their salaries are as follows: Earl of Clarendon, chairman, £3000; Baron Gainford, vice-chari man, £1000; Sir Gordon Navine, a director of the Bank of England; Dr. Montague Rendall, a former headmaster of Winchester College; Mrs Philip Snowden, each £7OO. - The corporation may acquire musical copyrights and literary matter, collect news in any part of the world, and establish or subscribe to news agencies. There are now upwards of 2.000,000 “listening-in” licenses. The corporation is to receive 90 per cent of the first million license fees, 80 per cent from the fourth, and any beyond that number.
