BOYS’ ANNUAL SPORTS. EARLIER RESULTS. Weather conditions were ideal today for the annual sports meeting providing competition among the hoys oi the Hawera High School. Tfae .say was overcast during greater part ox tb© day, but a .sligut breeze- from, the west which sprang up during the afternoon prevented a sultry heat, but was not sufficient to interfere with the competitors/ The annual sports are regarded by the public of Hawera as being a noteworthy event in the school year. The boys especially, always train conscientiously over a considerable period prior to the contests, and are thus able to provide good exhibitions of" clean sport. There was a good attendance oi the public at to-day’s function, and an enjoyable afternoon was spent. Large fields faced the -starter in all the track events, while the field events were also well filled. There was a total of 97 competitors listed in a long piogramme of 50 events. The officials controlling the meeting were most efficient, however, and the programme was attacked with expedition. The officials were:—Judges: Messrs J. Gray, M. F. Purser, C. H. Dahl, W. W. Thomas, L. Hunt, F. W. Sutton, R. P. Morrissey; timekeepers, Messrs F. Pettett, G. Hostick, C. H. Sargent; result steward, Mr A. W. Tugwell; track stewards, Messrs A. H. Laakman, D. Gower and R. Howard; -number steward. D. Brown. The general arrangements were under the control of a committee of hoys as follows : D. Brown, J. Sargent. J. Standish, L. Walker, V. Walshe, the- later acting as lion, secretary. Results:
