The managers of the Now Zealand' League football team have advised the New Zealand Council that four forwards were ordered to return to the Dominion for refusing to play, and timt following this command three other players expressed a wish to return also. These seven men have not played since the first test match. The New Zealand Council has instructed the English League to intervene on its 'behalf, and it will abide by any decision reached. The Daily News says: “Admittedly the New Zealand League players are snliering from casualties, necessitating three-quarters playing as forwards, but unless a vast, change occurs the tour will be a. failure. The. attendances have been poor. Even at Leeds, the game’s chief stronghold, the receipts for last week were £260, compared with ClonS on a former tour. Trade depression does nob account for the slump. The New Zealanders’ host chance of recovering their fortunes is to *vin the test at Hull on November 13, in which (lie selectors have increased the visitors’ prospects hv the inclusion of three younger players.
