KAPONGA.

(From Oar Own Correspondent.) METHODIST CHOIR CONCERT. The Town Hall was packed last nip, lit on tlie occasion of tlie loop; loooked icr conceit rendered by tlie Hawera Meth - odist Clioir. As anticipated, tlie audience was treated to a round ol vocal and instrumental items and recitations, such as lias not been submitted in kaponga l'or a considerable time. The most pleasing items in tlie lengthy programme were undoubtedly the concerted numbers contributed by the full choir of 35 voices, under the able conductor, ship of Mr. H. 0. A. Fox, a petfect gem among which was “0, Perfect Night. ’’ livery item by this nicely balanced and well trained organisation was encored, and the repertoire at command Was sufficiently extensive to permit of a compliance in every instance. Encores, in fact, were the rule throughout the programme, and in proof that the company is not a “one item” combination, every recall was promptly responded to. Many of the vocal and instrumental selections were much appreciated, Mrs. Carter’s solo, with flute accompaniment by Mr] Fox, and tlie solos of Mesdaines Dry nan and Sunderland especially so-. Miss Mills’s pleasing, -smooth soprano elecited applause and .a recall. Recitations by Mrs. Strange and Miss M. Dixon were a special feature, as also were the varied contributions of the juvenile section, as represented by O'lga and Margaret Fox, and Master Lo-uis Fox and B. Dawson. A clarionet solo by the latter youthful performer, and ‘‘Moonlight and Rinses ’ by Master Fox on. the violin, with piano and flute, produced unstinted applause, while Miss M. King (violin) and Mr. McLean (flute) earned well merited encores.

At the conclusion of the concert the Rev. A. Blakemore thanked the choir and audience for the assistance rendered to the Kaponga. Methodist Church funds. The visitors were entertained at supper in the hall prior to their return to Hawera.
