The following new members were elected : Mesdames Sheean, Dalrympie, Davidson, Misses Ferguson and Haldane, Messrs Sheean, Beer, and A. Mitchell. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: President, Mr. A. G. Wallace (re-elected); vicepresidents, Messrs C. J. Dickie, and H. Messrs Sherborne, Cathie and Browning; lion, auditor, Mr. H. Bradmore; club captain, Mr. H. Sherborne; vice-captain, Mr. R. Cathie; delegate to Taranaki Tennis Association. Mr. A. G. Nicholson.
The annual subscription was the subject of considerable discussion, several members expressed the opinion that the usual sub. of £2 for men and £1 5s for ladies was too low, and, as there were numbers of improvements to be put in hand this season and the practice of making a levy on members to meet any deficiency in the past had been very unsatisfactory and unfair, as some paid up and others did not. It was suggested that the subs, be raised to £3 for men and £2 for ladies Messrs Sheean and Browning thought it was wrong in principle to make the subs too high, as it would have the effect of driving prospective members away. The faci'ities at Waverlev did not warrant a high subscription being charged. It was finally decided that subs, be fixed at £3 for men, reducable to £2, and £2 for ladies, reducable to £1 os if paid by December 31 ; ,hon. members, men 10s, ladies 7s fid; school children os. School children not to use the courts on Saturday afternoons.
The opening day was set down for Saturday, "November G. The chairman moved a hearty vote of thanks for those who had donated trophies, to the ladies for dispensing afternoon teas, to Mr, Sherborne and Mr. A. O. Nicholson. Miss Oheyne reported that Mrs. Yv. TT. W.vbourno had presented a sot of hoops and balls to the Croquet Club. There were received with thanks and the secretary was instructed to write the donor expressing the club’s appreciation .
