LINE STILL BLOCKED. T R AIN SER VICE CANCELLED INDEFINITELY. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., Nov. 3. The landslide in the Manawatu Gorge, which has blocked the railway line for eleven days, still presents difficulties to those engaged in the removal of debris. It that some further falls of earth have occurred. Throughout yesterday sluicing operations were continued, but a large amount of earth must be washed down before the line will be made safe. All*. Bertinshaw, Wellington, inspecting engineer, and Mr. Casey, oi Auckland, North Island divisional jsuj>Hntendent, arrived at Palmerston North this morning and proceeded to the scene of the work with a view to expediting operations. In the interim, all trains between Palmerston North and Hawke’s Ba-y-Wairara-pa have been cancelled indefinitely. No indication is given as to when the normal service will be resumed.
