John James O’Haiilom pleaded not guilty at the Pblice Court to having negligent],v driven a motor car on September 18. thereby causing the death of Bernard Housiax. a passenger in his car. The inquest is being held simultaneously. The accused, in a statement, said he was travelling about 20 miles per hour on his right .side of tbe Toad. when his car struck a bus. The .latter was stationary. The tail light was on the left-hand corner at the back. Accused reserved his defence, and was committed for trial. The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence: That death was due to meningitis following upon injuries received. Though, he considered, the tail light was not in the right place, he did not think that led to any confusion. As coroner, he must find that the car in which tbe deceased was a passenger had been negligently driven.
