MEETING OF TARANAKI BRANCH. The -quarterly meeting of the Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Friesian Association was held at New Plymouth on Friday, Mr. J. Alarchant presiding. There were also present: Messrs A\\ R-. Wright, T. Richards, C. W. Baldwin, G. Gibson, Allen, Smart (2), Wood, and Soff-e. It was reported that Air. Kaulaglier, Dominion secretary, would give a demonstration on the second day of the Stratford A. and P. Show. The Hawera A. and P. Association forwarded the names of three men from whom it was proposed to elect a judge. —The names submitted were apr proved. . ■ . On the motion of Air. Gibson it was decided to forward a recommendation to tTie Dominion Council that in future no person be appointed a judge who was to an appreciable extent interested in the sale of stock on commission It was decided to circularise Taranaki members asking for a minimum subscription of 5s towards the cost of sending the provincial group team to the Royal Show at Auckland. As a result of an inquiry from the Stratford A. and P. Association it was decided to recommend the Stratford, Hawera, and New Plymouth associations that dry cows visibly in calf should be eligible to compete in championship classes. Dominion headquarters forwarded a copy of proposed rules, and after these had been read a discussion arose as to whether a farmer could be a member of a branch without being a member of the parent body. The present position is that ;i subscription of £2 2s is paid to the association, and of this 10s 6d is returned to the branches. On the motion of Air. Smart, seconded by Air. Baldwin, it was decided to recommend that farmers hot niernbers of the parent body be admitted as members of a branch, each branch to fix its own subscription. The meeting agreed to ask the council to delete the suggested rule that- branch associations should fix an annual payment from members resident in their districts, and to substitute Air.
