TO ENTER IN DOMINION CONTEST MUCH ENTHUSIASM SHOWN. At an enthusiastic combined meeting of bandsmen and the committee last evening it was decided that the Hawera Municipal Band should enter for the Dominion contest, to be held in Wellington in March of next year. Mr E. Dixon presided over the meeting. The conductor (Mr H. C. A. Fox) said that it would be necessary to decide at the meeting whether the band should enter for the contest or not. He urged the necessity for each individual member to continue regular practice and all to combine to work harmoniously in the interests of the band. On the motion of Sergeant C. Pearce, seconded by Bandmaster E. Gould, it was resolved “That the Hawera Municipal Band enter for the forthcoming contest, and that the members express their confidence in the conductor and pledge themselves to do all in their power to bring success to their band and town.”

Mr Fox stated that it would be necessary to make certain alterations in the positions of bandsmen, consideration of these being left to the contest committee.
On the suggestion of Mr Fox it was decided to engage a solo oornetist. The chairman addressed the bandsmen, and said he believed that if they gave their loval supoort to the conductor they would not disgrace themselves at the contest. MEETING OF COMMITTEE.
