V ; The many hundreds who attended the solemn pontifical requiem mass for ' the. late Very Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, who died on Friday . afternoon last, and the many thousands, who lined the streets as the funeral cortege passed on its way to the cemetery at Karori, showed plainly how greatly they appreciated the wonderful work of mercy carried out byMother Mary Aubert over so long a* period of years. Long before 9i o’clock, St. Mary of the Angels’ Church in Boulcott Street was crowded, and there were many. ... hundreds who were unable to’ enter . for the service. Those present in the” church included the 'Chief Justice (Hon. C. 'P. Skerrett), Sir Robert : Stout, Sir John Hoskin, Sir Joseph Ward, Mr W. G. Riddlel, S.M., Senior ’ Magistrate at Wellington, Mr M. F. Luckie (representing the Mayor of • Wellington and the City Council),.and Mr R. Tait (acting town clerk). t .
