In connection with the Wanibsien incident, the Government is reported to have demanded the reservation of the right to claim damages and the punishment of the responsible person An the British Navy, and the guarantee of a, non-recurrence of similar inpidents. It is also reported that if the British Government failed .to accept the demands the Chinese Government was to declare the cancellation of the unequal treaties concluded between Britain and China and orders have been issued to all provincial (authorities to enforce control on the navigation of British, warships in Chinese waters.
