STAR STRANGER’S WIN

l ISSUE NEVER IN DOUBT.

BY CABLE--PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.

Received. 10.50 a.m. to-day. , SYDNEY, Sept. 5.. Commenting on Star Stranger’is win •in the Metropolitan, the Herald says: “At the foui- furlong post Star Stranger was going along better than anything in th e race. From half distance he left the others and won by nearly two lengths.” The Telegraph says: “The race is easilv described, as the New Zealander did not look like losing at any stage. He wftsi never further back than sixth. He ran into fourth place at the halfmile, and that was the beginning of the run which carried l him to the front at the distance. At this stage it looked as if Donald would ,mak© a race ol it with Star Stranger, but the latter finished magnificently.” ... , Roy Reed (Star Stranger’s ' jockey) says he had an excellent run throughout, and although Star Stranger seldom displayed any anxiety to pull bard, on this occasion li© was going strongly all the way. At the half-mile one of the teaders dropped back, and to avoid •anv checking of Star Stranger, he took the gelding slightly to the outside. Star Stranger went through like a shot out of a gun,’ continued Reed. He finished verv determinedly, and needed Eracticallv no riding over the last few lrlongs.”
