Ejginont, devotees of the rod continue to get really good sport and many capital catches are reported. It serves to prove that -there are plenty of fish in the rivers of the district. Anglers report, that AA’hereas the river’s this side of Otakeho were all swollen and discoloured by the rain, the Otakeho Avas clear and about normal; d; Messrs Hone and Arnos took eightgood fish from' the Kaupokonui, six of which are to be .seen/ in Bennett and Sutton’s window. They include one of about five pounds and average probably about three. . Messrs Drake, ; ii Christian sen and Baker, of OkaiaAva-, fishing in tire same ■stream' took no less than eighteen—tAvo of 611bs, three of .SLbs, two of 4Lbs, and eleA'en over 2l!b«. Messrs Salmon, Duff ill and Spragg also irepont good sport and satisfactory catches. It is quite apparent the .season promises .to be excellent and that fish are plentiful, a- good recompense to the Acclimatisation Society’s executive for the work it has done in the interests of the sport. A neat and handy little implement called a “'Priest,” for dispatching fish after capture, as shown in Bennett and Sutton’is window. It has been carved in puriri by GVIr. If. S'. Mackie, of Otakeho', and is modelled on an original Maori design. Tit is artistically made and looks, quite effective for its job.
