LONDON, Sept. 251 The New Zealand League footballers defeated Barrow by 19 points to 16. The New Zealand team was: Dufty, Delgiosso, Davidson, Desmond, Cole, Brisbane, Hall, Devine, Herring, Carroll, Mason, A very and Mount. Inclement weather affected the attendance, which was 5500. The Mayor of Barrow welcomed the teams. The New Zealanders were the more impressive side in the first half, their speed and passing being outstanding features of the play. Herring, Desmond, and Avery obtained splendid tries, Mouat converting the last one near the interval. Burgess, who toured New Zealand with a British team, kicked a penalty goal, and the scores at half-time were: New Zealand 11, Barrow 2. The second spell was productive of thrilling and: exciting incidents. Delgrosso scored for New Zealand, after which Scott and Doyle crossed the line for Barrow, but neither try was converted. Then Avery increased the visitors’ lead with a capital try, which Duftv converted. • Near the finish Barrow played strongly Cummings and Carr scored tries. The latter also toured' New Zealand. Burgess added a goal to Cummings’s try, and a great game ended: without further score. Dufty suffered from bruised ribs, but .pluckiilv played throughout the half. Davidson, Dufty, Devine, Avery and Mouat were brilliaiit, and the whole team showed better spirit and understanding than in any previous game. Prior to the match the team were accorded a civic reception and visited Vickers Company s shipyard.
