In the battle between Ike Robin and Stamliaius Zbysko for the world's heavyweight wrestling title, Zbyszko obtained a. fall early in the fifth round and Rjob.ii!; scored early in the sixth, 'ihe contest was one of eight rounds of ten minutes each, with two minute rests between rounds, the' decision to be on the first two fails out of three. * After sparring for three and a half minutes Zbyszko brought Robin to the mat with tai leghold. Robin easily broke away and the .struggle was resinned- with the contestants on their feet. Robin, obtained a wrist hold, -but

could not retain it, and the struggle for A position continued in strenuous fashion, ft In the .second round both men -atPy tacked strongly. Neither could, obtain 'an advantage, and in the first twenty minutes of the. wrestling the pair were on the mat for only 15 seconds. At, the opening of the third session Robin obtained an arm lock on his opponent and brought him, to the mat. Robin was unable to keep the hold and Zbyszko retaliated by throwing Rbbin with a body hold. Robin lifted his opponent bodily and shook free. He then went after the Pole land almost pinned him. with a half-Nelson. Karly. in the fifth round Zbyszko brought Robin clean-over his head and pinned him on the mat. On . resuming Zbyszko obtained an advantage with: a body hold, only Robin’s strength enabling him to wriggle free. After , a couple of minutes’ tremendous pressure another body hold immediately again had Robin clear with a tremendous effort.

At the opening of the sixth session Robin obtained a headlock and Zbyszko wen t to the mat. He was badly pressed but managed to break away. Robin used ,a headlock twice again, in quick succession and had his opponent in great distress, eventually throwing and pining him with a body roll amid tremendous excitement. Both men were in an exhausted condition and had to •be assisted to their corners. In the seventh round there was ai good deal of sparring for position until Robin, using a. half-Nelson, looked like pinning his opponent. Zbyszko broke clear and there was some likely work on the mat. Zbyszko trying for a. ha.mmerlock. Robin obtained a three-quarter-Nelson and had the Pole in trouble for a! time, but the latter rolled cleverly and escaped. The final round was full of excitement. From the start Robin secured a three-quarter-Nelson and almost, pinned the Pole, but in rolling he went off the mat among the spectators. Attacking strongly again Robin clamped on a. head hold and brought <liis opponent- down, hut could not hold-the deadly grip. Two other similar holds were secured by Robin toward the end of the round, but Zbyszko managed to break clear. There was great cheering as the referee declared a draw.
