Darker, an exiiert engineer, Who has repeatedly 'toured the word inspecting railway systems, has a word of pradsb for the New Zealand lines. He considers New Zealand has provided good railways and rolling .stock, when one takes into consideration ail the difficulties emcounteredUin construction and maintenance. When the new railway .shops arlo: built, the Government would be in a still better position to progress. Air Darker travelled from' Auckland in the new sleeping car designed by Mr Lynde, chief mechanical engineer, which he considered reflects great credit on the department.
