POSED AS A SALESMAN

WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. Two terms of -three months’ imprisonment consecutive -were imposed on 'William Frederick Hodson, alias Moy, Alais Moir, by Mr. Riddell, S.M., to-day on six charges of obtaining money (£1 15s) by false pretences, by going round pretending to be a salesman for Nelson Fruitgrowers, Ltd. The accused is already undergoing .sentence on twenty charges of similar nature at Palmerston North.

At the Supreme Court, Albert James Maddern, an, aged man who was found guilty after two trials on three charges of incest with an eleven-year-old daughter, was sentenced- to • three years’ impr i son moot.

A nominal penalty of £1 and costs 7s was imposed oh George Bird for allowing liquor to be consumed in a restaurant in the Basin -Reserve pavilion on the occasion of a smoke concert. FORGERY A LLEGET) PALMERSTON N.. Sept. 3. Harry Walter Reid (33) pleaded guilty at the Police Cbwrt to- drawing •a cheque for £4 on the Bank of New Zealand ia.t Levin in the name of J. Spiens land utttering .same to Arthur Charles Brad field- at 'Palmemton North. He was committed to the Supreme Court a ‘k Wellington for sentence'.
