Treffene said lie shot- the detectives about- five o’clock in the afternoon. He drove to the hotel and saw Treffene and Clarke. He was told by the latter that Treffene accidentally shot the detectives and asked him what he thought tlie best thing to do. Witness said he had better tell the police, but Clarke would not agree. Clarke asked witness to help him to dispose of the bodies by throwing them down a. shaft. Witness refused to haVo anything to do with such proceedings.
