RUGBY AND HOCKEY SUCCESSES

The citizens of Manaia. extend their hearty congratulations to the Waimate fourths on winning the Taranaki Rugby championship in their grade last Thursday. Much credit is due to their coaches, Messrs A. McCracken and W Bourke. Manaia, girls were also successful in the hockey tournament at Eltliam, where, they won the Taranaki buttons. This team was only beaten once throughout the season, the defeat being in the phiv-off with Stratford Technical High School, but last Thursday they defeated the Stratford Technical School hv 3 to 2. The girls are to he complimented on their splendid performance, when they went through the tournament without a loss.
