LOCAL STOCK MARKET

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd. (Hawera branch) reports as follows: At Kakaramea, -on Monday, the 23rd instant, we held our usual monthly sale, when there was are exceptionally heavy yarding of all classes of cattle. A large number of buyers were present-, -and prices all over were satisfactory, practically everything being cleared. We quote: Fat cows (light) £6 Ms to £7 7s 6d, forward cows £3 10s to £4 15s, store cows £2 5s to £3 os. best springing heifers £8 5s to £lO ss, medium .springing heifers £6 to £7 10s, backward and low conditioned £3 10s to £5, Jersey cross yearling heifers £1 10s to £3 4s, store pigs £1 11s to £2, weaner pigs to 225, sows with litter to £6 15s. At- our Eltham sale on Wednesday, the 25th instant, a small yarding was offered to a- fair attendance of buyers. Dairy heifers and cows were in. keen demand. We quote: Dairy cows (good sorts) £9 5s to £lO IQs. good springing heifers £6 15s to £8 ss, backward sorts £4 10s to £5 5.5. At our Hawera sale on the 26th instant a good yarding of sheep and dairy cattle was offered to a, large attendance of buyers. Bidding was keen , and everything was sold under the hammer in vendors’ favour. We quote : Forward cows £3 10s to- £4 ss, store cows £2 5s to £3 ss. best ,springing heifers £8 10s to £lO 10s, medium sprimrine heifers £6 10s to £B, lowconditioned and backward £4 to £5, Fat wethers 32. s 9d to 355, fat- ewes 25s 6c!i -to 275, store pies 31s to- 365, small store pigs 22s to 275, weaner pigs 15s to 20s. At Waverley on the 2-7 t-h instant we offered a small yarding of sheep andi dairy mottle to- a- good muster of buyers. We quote: Small 2-tooth wethers 18s 1 Id. small 2-tooth ewes 18s. dairy cows (good sorbs) £6 ]os to £8 10s. springing heifers £5 to £6 10s. store pigs 27s to 325.
