CITY FOOTBALL CLUB.

A SUCCESSFUL DANCE. There was a gay scene at the Savoy Rooms i'a.st nignt when the ■plain and fancy dress dance organised on. behalf of the City Football G'ub’s funds was held. The, promoters, Mesdames Foster, Cummane and Jackson, are en titled tc 'the greatest’ credit for thenwork, the result of which wall be a substantial 1 , addition to the fund foiii jerseys and outfits fo«- the team. The hall was prettily decorated, and the effect cf the gay costume® of the dancers made, it look as, artistic and gay as it .has ever been. There was a large attendance of dancers, who enjoyed the entertainment, provided. Exce’ilont music was supplied, by Boulton’s orchestra, and tlie welfare of the dancers was ;in the* capable hands of Messrs G*. Collins and A. Elgar.

Much interest was taken in the cornfor fancy dresses, which were won as follow: —Couple, Misses McPherson and Walker (Uncle> Sam and Liberty' - best costume, Miss Gibbings (Crusader), 1 • Mrs Gibbons (Turkish .’adv), 2; pair, Misses Galloway and Yorks Glen and Chicken); original indy. Mis® Trow (Maori) 1, Mrs Gumniane (Paneir Boy); poster. Miss Foster (cigarette album) 1 : Miss Whyte, (clock) 2: Mr Sp aiding (Golden Minuin) 1; special. Mr Bryant (Cowboy). The winners of the dancing and novelty competitions were: Waltzing, Mr Gibbons °ud Miss A. Whyte, 1; Mr Boyle and Miss M. Whyte 2. Lucky wW'tz: Miss Yorke and' Mr McCormack Nbvedtv: Ladies, Mrs Butler 1, Miss Oliver 2:-gentlemen , Mr DombroskL 1, Mr Bell 2.~ Mr FI gar was the judge of the waltzing competition., and ft indies’ committee judged the costumes. At the conclusion of the function, Mr Collins, on behalf of the committee, thanked most heartily the ladies who had organised the dance, all) who had given Trophies, and others who had helped in any way toi secure the success which was achieved.
