TENNIS.
DAVIS CUP MATCHES.'
FRANCE v. JAPAN. % THE U.S.A. TEAM. BY CARLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received 1.30 p.m. to-day. NEW YORK, Aug. 25. Tennis writers generally are agreed that France .should have little difficulty in eliminating Japan. The teams nominated consist of Harada- and Tamara for Japan and La Caste., Oochet and Bragnon for; France. After that the challenge, round between France and the United States would arouse the keenest interest, as the teams are- regarded as almost equally matched. • eanwiiilo the' United States Se-leetioai Committee faces a difficult task, with the necessity of. again choosing between Johnston and Richards to play in the singles, with Tilden. .Johnstcan has beaten both Borotra and La Cost© in 1925, end has played a splendid game since, while Richards has lost prestige in. Europe this season, which, however, he has since recovered here. It is probably, howbver, that the. United States team will te Til den. and Johnston in the singles and Richards, and Williams in the doubles.—A. and N.Z. Assn.
