Everything is reported l to lie quiet on the Notts coalfields this morning. The police in Mansfield report that there arc no pickets in the streets and more miners are. returning to -work. It is understood that, the Home Office, has drawn up plans for the movement of large numbers of police from London and other unaffected areas to the coalfields' a high official, stated that the Florae. -Secretary is. determined that the utmost possible protection would be, provided for anyone willing to work. Every effort mas beip<r made to combat intimidation. The Home Office reports showed that stories of intimidation and violence were exaggerated hut undoubtedly the situation is difficult. There is no question of intereference by any other bodies than, the police.—Renter.
