CONSTABLE ATTACKED.
SHOT TO DEFEND HIMSELF. BY CABLE— PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. , Received 10.25 n,m. to-day. SYDNEY, Aug. 23. While endeavouring to arrest two men suspected of theft at Lithgow, a constable was compelled to. draw a revolver to, protect himself. After challenging one man, who was making for him with an upraised bottle, he fixed, injuring the man, who died some time later. Police reports state that the revolver exploded.
