(From Our Own Correspondent). Suppliers are now going t-o the factory daily, and, although the local branch is still separating it is expected to commence cheese shortly. Despite tile inclement weather, there was a large attendance at tho social evening, which took place in the local ball last week, to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Hardaker and, family. During the evening, Mr McCandish, Mr I . Norgato and Mr A. Hi stop favoured tho gathering with songs. Mr Eves, with a step dance, and Mr Lancs, with a bagpipe selection, all- receiving wellearned encores. After a hue supper, provided by .tile ladies, Mr Hrslop apodlopjLs'Ocl for Llio jab-seixce. of jNXt’ 31cDonga 1 . He spoke of the good work Mr Hardaker had done in eoiintection with hall and tennis club, ana called upon Mr S. Holland to make the presentation.
Mr Howard said it- was now three years since the Hardaker family came Ua Rowan, and during that time Mr and Mrs Hardaker had been, on the tennis? club, hall committee, a,nd school committee, and had rendered very valuable help to all. Although w© had very short notice that they were leaving the district, we felt we could not let them go without showing them that wet appreciated the good wbrk they had done. He had much pleasure in asking Mr and Mrs Hardaker and family to accept a handsome reversih 1 © hearth rug from the residents. After the siniging of k ‘For They aro Jolly Good Fellows,” Mr Hardaker, on . behalf pf his wife and family, thanked the speakers for the kind remarks, and the residents for the handsome present, which was quite unexpected, as all they had done had been, done willingly and had been a pleasure. All he hoped was that residents would still carry on with the good work and soon have th e tennis court fit t!o> play on. Although tli© weather was very cold and rough, there wasi a large attendance. at the weekly euchre party, held in the hall last Tuesday evening. With 81- games to her credit, Mrs Woodhead won the ladies prize, the gentlemen’s prize being won by Mr Aird with nine games. After the 'tournament the floor was cleared and dancing took place, Mrs Dempsey supplying first-class music. .
