CHAMFIONSHIP FINALS
MANA GEMENT COMMITTEE
MEETING. A meeting of the management mittee of the Taranaki Rugby Union was held at Eltham at the conclusion of the representative game yesterciaj afternoon. There were present: Messrs J. McLeod (chairman), J. Paterson, J. J. Goodwin, W. A. Guy, J. Garcia, E. PI. Young, F. M. Whyte, R. R. Tyrcr, A. F. Nielson, L. J. Furne, and S. k/ Nielson (secretary). Stratford was decided upon as the venue of the play-off game between the northern and southern winners to decide the .senior championship, the date being fixed as Thursday, August It was decided to play the third o-rade final between Star Thirds and Stratford Technical High School at. Inglewood on Saturday, August 21, commencing at 2.30 p.m. With reference to the fourth grade final, it was resolved that if New Plymouth High School win the northern final against Star fourths to-daj (Thursdav), the play-off with \vaimate the southern winners, will take place at Stratford on Saturday, August 21, and that if Star won the game mentioned, the play-off be arranged as a curtain-raiser to the semor ( play-off on August 26. ' . . A letter received from the laranaki Secondary Schools Association, eonti olling the "fifth grade competition, notified that the fifth grade championship had been won by Stratford Technical School A without the loss of a game, and with a. record of 236 points for and three against. Throughout the season the team’s line had not been crossed, the points .scored against them corning from a penalty goal. ' A letter received from the Taranaki Referees’ Association .protested against members of the association being charged admission to. stands at representative fixtures, and suggested that privilege tickets giving such admittance be issued to active members. The chairman explained that it had been necessary to restrict the admittance to stands by the usual complimentary tickets on account of the limited accommodation. It was mentioned that the matter was one which should be .dealt, with at the annual meeting, and consideration was held over. The Referees’ Association also requested that official lists of fixtures be supplied. —The letter was xefened to f l-i/v cpprhtnrv The usual”grant of £'so was made to the Primary Schools Union. Tire chairman (Mr. J. McLean) and selector (Mr. W. A. Guy) were appointed as joint managers of the touring team.
The Waikato Union wrote agreeing to plav the representative game against‘the Taranaki touring team on September 15. _______
