DEATH THROUGH SCALDS.

INFANT CHILD’S FATE. FELL INTO BOILING WATER. As the result of a fall into a deep bowl of boiling water on Tuesday an infant child, Isabell Myrtle James, aged 1 year and 11 months, who resided with her mother at the home of Mr _A_nibrose Fowler, farmer, Ihaia Road, near Opunake, received scalds which resulted in her death some 33 hours later. It appears that at about 1 pan. on Tuesday the mother of the child, who is employed in domestic work by Mr Fowler, was engaged in washing the household linen and placed a bowl of water from the copper on the ground. Whilst her back was turned the infant toddled and fell into the tub. The child was removed immediately and taken by car to Kaponga, where she received medical attention and was admitted to the Kaponga private hospital. Everything possible was done for the little sufferer, but she died at about 10 o’clock last evening.
