PERSONAL ITEMS.
Air. W. P. Bussell has been appointed handicapper to the Takapuna Jockey Club. •One of the oldest and most respected residents of North Taranaki passed to her rest- yesterday in the person of Mrs Henry Brown, of Img.lewbod, at the ripe old age of 80 years. A daughter of the late John Brooking, she was born in New Plymouth in 1846, and after living* there till her marriage about 1870. she .settled with her husband on a farm on the Upper Carrington Road, where he began those operations in sawmilling which lie carried on for many years. She thus was closely associated with the- early strenuous days of settlement, and throughout earned the respect a.nd esteem of the community of settlers in that district. Later .she settled in Inglewood, and had lived there until her death. Her passing will be mourned by many friends all over the province. She is survived by one son and one daughter, both ■ living at Inglewood, and one sister, Mrs George, of New Plymouth.
