THE COMPETITIONS.

NEXT WEEK’S FESTIVAL. Musical competitions will be held at Hawera next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, commencing at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. There are over-50 classes, containing nearly 400 entries, including large numbers from outside. The eornmittee has arrangements well in hand and everything points to a very successful festival. Much time has been spent on the- programme in order to make each session interesting to the audience. Bee-alls of the morning and after•n sessions will bo heard each evening. There are many new classes, including Shakespearian dialogue, Scottish song, drawing-room entertainment, operatic .solo, unison singing (children), boys’ flute solo, wood-wind instrument solo.
