CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES, AUSTRAL,ASIAN RECORDS PASSED BIT CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—OOP yfItUHT. BRISBANE, Aug. 16. The conference of the. Amateur Athletic Union of Australia, and New Zealand, was, held .to-day , and was attended by delegates from, all. the States. Mr, R,. Goombes (who was re-elected president) was in the chair. The following Australasian, records were passed : Three miles running;—Rose, -4min 15 l-ssee. Javelin.. —Lay, 187 ft 71 in. Milo run.—Rose, 4min 13 3-ssec. 2-20 .straight course.—Jackson Seholz. 21 2-s,see. 109 yards.—Jackson Sehol-z, 9 4-ssec. A.n application for the hammerthrowing record that Merchant established at Wellington, and was rejected at the Hobart conference, was reconsidered and passed. It was decided, to- ask the New Zealand Association if possible to hold the next Australian championship in December or early in January. A. motion was parsed asking the Australian Union- if possible to* arrange a tour overseas for athletes during the earning season It was decided, to include a running hop, step and jump event in the championship programme. it wa.s, decided to request the. English Amateur Athletic Association to set up a small body in England to establish a -system of British Empire records.
Minor motions, brought forward by New Zealand .representatives were carried.
