BOYS’ IMMIGRATION.
C-HUROH OF ENGLAND SCHEME
The local secretary of the Church of England Boys’ Immigration Committee, Mr. Gep. H. Buckeridge, is in receipt of a letter froiri the New Zealand secretary in Auckland, stating that the second party of boys will sail from England by the Hororata on August 27. This will mean that the boys will arrive in New Zealand about the first'week in October. The first batch of lads sent out under this scheme arrived in June, and.were very quickly absorbed. The Auckland committee had'Bl) applications for boys, and cabled to London for that number. Owing to the strike, and consequent delay in shipping, the London committee ‘replied that- it- was impossible to get accommodation for 80, hut that 30 could be sent. In reference to the first batch, of bays, the Rev. C. H. Grant-Cowan writes: “Tlie last hatch of hoys were a splendid''type, and are, I believe, giving great satisfaction.” The New Zealand, secretary has promised that Hawera’s application should have consideration when allotting this quota, As the lads will not arrive till the beginning of October, any applicant who cannot wait until then should communicate with the local secretary, Mr. Geo. H. Buckeridge, as early as possible.
