BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.

PARIS, July 30,

M. Poincare was aghast when a proposal was made ,to the Finance Commission to increase’ deputies’ salaries from 27,000 francs- annually -to 45,000, but the commission voted by 22 to 2 in favour of the increase, which was incorporated in the Fiscal Bill, and this was l carried by 19 votes to 13. It will be presented to the Chamber probably on Saturday.

M. Poincare, resisted the amendments, saying: "It. is all or nothing. One tax is as obnoxious as another. All taxes are obnoxious. ’ ’ He added that the present Bill was only the preface. He intended', to .proceed by stages ,and lie promised that plans for the -stabilisation of the franc would be ready by October.
