SOUTHDOWN SHEEP BREEDERS. (BV TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., June 16. At a meeting of Southdown sheep breeders at the National Dairy Show yesterday it was decided to form- a societv to cover the whole ot the Dominion, instead of having separate associations in both Islands.
BURGLARIES AT HAMILTON, HAMILTON, June 16. Another burglary occurred at Hamilton between night and morning, the house auction mart of Fow and Co. being broken into and a small quantity of jewellery taken from the office. There are indications of an attempt having been made to open the safe, but this failed. This is the sixth business place broken into since Saturday night. GIFT FOR FOREIGN MISSIONS. DUNEDIN, June 16. The late Win. Souter, of Waikouaiti, has bequeathed £IOOO to the New Zealand Presbyterian Church for foreign missions.
HALF-HOLIDAY FOR FARM WORKERS. WELLINGTON, Juno IG. It is understood that the Agricultural and Pastoral Workers’ Association has decided to promote a Bill for this session of Parliament for the purpose of giving farm workers a compulsory weekly half-holiday. It is alleged that at the present time farm workers have no time in ■which to play games or to enjoy recreation of any kind except on Sunday.
